POINT Conference 2010

August 16-21, 2010 - Salt Lake City, UT
The POINT Conference - 2010 will be held in Salt Lake City in conjunction with a series of five talks (one each day) by Ruth Merriman (#4887) on Italian genealogy (with the topics of these talks differing from those she gave in 2008). There will be NO CHARGE to attend these wonderfully instructive sessions nor to conduct research at the Family History Library, where Ruth's talks will be given.

The dates of Ruth's presentations-and the conference-will be Monday, August 16, 2010 through Friday, August 20, 2010. Ruth will repeat all five talks on Saturday, August 21, 2010. We will also have our traditional conference banquet on Friday evening, as well as our usual meeting of PIP chapter leaders and representatives.

The city of Salt Lake is hoping to resurect its annual Italian Street Faire in 2010. If so, it will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2010, and those participating in the conference may also want to attend that.
There will be a Conference Registration Fee of $40, which includes the Friday evening banquet (A Taste of Italy) at the Plaza Hotel and incidental items such as identification badges, refreshments in our Hospitality Room and possibly an additional genealogy training session.
Extra dinner reservations for a spouse or guest may be purchased for $25.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS AFTER 30 APRIL 2010.

A limited number of rooms at a special conference rate have been set aside at The Plaza Hotel for PAID, REGISTERED members attending the conference on a first-come, first-served basis. For reservations, please call The Plaza Hotel at 800-366-3684 (toll free) or 801-521-0130. Please tell them you would like the POINT 2010 Conference rate ($85 single or double; $92 triple or quad).

POINT Conference 2008

August 18-23, 2008 - Salt Lake City, UT (note change of location and date)

Ruth Merrimann (#4887) will be giving a series of five talks on five different topics related to Italian genealogy, at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, one each morning, from Monday, August 18, 2008, through Friday, August, 22. Ruth will repeat the entire series of five talks on Saturday, August 23, 2008, allowing attendees to arrive any time during the week and still hear all her talks.

There will be the opportunity for POINTers attending this series to have Ruth and other Library staff members pre-arrange to have any films needed pulled from the vaults and ready upon arrival, and to help with the reading and interpretation of any records found.

This was a very popular feature of our POINT National Conference in Salt Lake City in 2002.

All of the above will be FREE OF CHARGE! We are planning to have a meeting of POINTers In Person chapter leaders and representatives following Ruth’s talk on Friday morning, and a POINT banquet on Friday evening, at Dinner at Buca De Bepo Restaurant.

POINTers will be responsible for their own transportation, lodging and meals.
