Show Description:
Innovative, intimate and ingenious, this revolutionary new production
of SWEENEY TODD "is an event theatergoers will be talking about for
years." (The Wall Street Journal).
The legendary demon barber, hell-bent on revenge, takes up with his
enterprising neighbor in a delicious plot to slice their way through
London’s upper crust. Justice will be served—along
with lush melody, audacious humor and bloody good thrills.
Directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle, with music and lyrics by
Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, this dazzling reinvention of
a magnificent musical thriller is set to stun theatergoers as never
before. How does the movie
compare to the theater production?
According to my group rep from when it played in Dallas: "I also wanted
to tell you, that the movie is rated R, however our show is not that
gruesome. It has some issues that I believe would be more PG-13, but
certainly not rated R."Once the show begins, all
latecomers will NOT be seated for the first
one half hour of the production. Please allow for extra time to arrive
at the theatre and get to your seats before the curtain goes up so that
you will thoroughly enjoy the performance.

How this
works:
As each show becomes available, a block of tickets will be set aside
for homeschoolers to order online. Tickets have special student
pricing. We must have at least 20 sales each time to continue. Tickets
are only available for each show for a limited time (10 days of less),
so please order early once their availablity has been announced. In
general the online site will be available for sales about six weeks
before a paricular show. Do let your friends know about the
shows as they become available. Please help us get the word out about
these shows.
You will use the same website each time and the same password.
When our block of tickets has sold out, n/a will appear by number of
seats. If this happens and the order time hasn't expired, please
contact us so we can request additional tickets if the show has not yet
sold out. Order early to get the best seats.
Please pass this onto other homeschoolers and tell them to
order today!
Upcoming shows available for orders, we need to have 20
tickets ordered per show for these offers to continue.
Polls for Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas!
We have refined our polls for Houston and San Antonio. Please vote so
we can confirm that there is enough interest to make
our required minimum (20 tickets). Even if you already gave
us prior feedback, we need you to vote again in this new poll.
The Dallas 2008 season has been announced and has 17 shows, more shows
than ever. We need your feedback to determine which shows will make our
required
minimum.
Only those shows that show enough interest to make our
required minimums will have homeschool offers.
Feel free to participate in both polls if it's likely you would attend
shows in these cities.
Attention former houston.rr.com users: we have been
unable to contact some of our users who expressed interest in shows
because Comcast is no longer forwarding your emails and your addresses
bounce if we try to substitite comcast.net in your address. Please
provide us with your new email address if you would like to be
contacted.
Please vote for shows for the 2007-08 season for both Houston
and San Antonio!
Bass Hall in Austin will be closed for renovations next season, but
thanks to your orders, we will be able to do offers for San Antonio.
Based upon your feedback, we will pick what shows will be
offered
for Homeschool Discounts for the next season. Exact show time dates
will be picked at a later time. In general the offers for these shows
will take place anywhere from 3 to 8 months before the show date,
depending upon the availability of tickets.
For each show, there will be one performance date picked for
the
homeschool discount show during that show's run period, but you will be
able to pick from multiple seating/price levels. In general the show
date will either be on a Sunday, Tues or Wed night for our best prices.
Tickets will be sent directly to you. Once an offer expires you will
NOT be
able to get the group sales rate, so it's very important for you to
order in a timely manner once the sale for a particular show is active.
Note while shows are listed below in order by show
date, we may need
to do the actual offers out of order, depending upon the show. Watch
for notices. Only one show will be offered at any one time. For most
current info check this page
Of these shows listed below, please rate them on a scale of
1-5
1- no way
2 - fairly unlikely I would attend
3 - may be interested depending upon when it is offered
4- very interested in this show
5 - count me in, I can't wait to see this show
If none of the shows interest you, do not clutter my inbox with that
result, We don't need a 100 emails saying you won't go to anything.
Please only respond if it's likely you would want to attend at least
one of these shows.
Note that shows are listed for both Houston and San Antonio. Bass Hall
in
Austin will be closed for renovation this season, but thanks to your
orders, they are giving the option to do offers at the Magestic Theater
in San Antonio. For Dallas
shows,
we will poll for next season at a later date.
Please contact
us with your feedback for these shows.
After we have had time to process the results, we will let you
know which of these shows will be offered for group discounts. Due to
the nature of group sales, we have to decide NOW which shows we would
like to attend, even though the new season is months from now. Your
feedback is very important, if it doesn't seem likely that we will make
our min 20 ticket order for a particular show, we will NOT do a
homeschool offer for that show.
For those who are interested in shows that don't have enough
votes for a homeschool offer, you will need to buy tickets directly
from the box office at the regular admission
fees.
Tentative schedule of shows for the 2007-08 season including
show descriptions. Most shows last approx 2 hours. Some are more mature
than other shows, due to the nature of live theater, each family will
need to decide if a show is suitable or not for their
tastes/interests/maturity of their children.

Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, Monty Python's Spamalot
is the outrageous new musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the film

Award-winner
Mike Nichols, with a book by Eric Idle and music and lyrics by the
Grammy Award-winning team of Mr. Idle and John Du Prez, Spamalot tells
the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they
embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Flying cows, killer rabbits,
taunting Frenchmen and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few of
the reasons audiences everywhere are eating up Spamalot.

Twelve Angry Men - Feb 20, Feb 22, Feb 24,
and Feb 25, 2007
THE GREATEST COURTROOM DRAMA OF ALL TIME! Twelve Jurors. Twelve walks
of life. And only two ways to rule: guilty or not guilty. What seems
like an open-and-shut murder case becomes a twisted puzzle of prejudice
and intrigue. Twelve Jurors in a murder trial are corralled in a room
for the duration of their deliberation. As prejudices are tested and
evidence weighed, the entire jury is forced to look past the show of
the courtroom to unearth the shocking truth. Faced with playing the
hangmen, these dozen men must first face themselves. Starring Richard
Thomas and directed by Scott Ellis, the National Tour of TWELVE ANGRY
MEN is produced by Roundabout Theatre Company, one of the
country’s
leading not-for-profit theatres.

This came about as a result of our visit to the educators open
house for the Theater District last year. We don't make anything from
the sales, this is provided as a service to the homeschool community.
We like setting up group events for homeschoolers to attend. We're
pleased that that homeschoolers can now take advantage of this online
order system.
