Location: Woodlands (Houston)
Faith Community Church, 5505 Research Forest Drive (Just
west of Bear Branch Park, on the other side of Research) In the gym.
10:30-1:30 (If you are selling, please be there at 9 to set up. After set up,
sellers will have until about 10:30 to look and buy before we open up for
everyone else. Sellers will need to be out by 2pm
What: Booksale (used or new)
Who: Homeschoolers who need to buy or sell curriculum, books, or
other school related items (It is not open only to Homewood,
though Homewood members come first if we happen to run out of
room. I don't think that will be an issue though.)
Cost: Faith is graciously giving this to us at no cost. I would,
however, like each seller who is able to contribute $2-$3 as a
love offering to show our gratitude. I will have a basket
available for this purpose.
Please keep children from running around the church. They need to
remain in the gym. As always, we want others to know our children
because they behave, not because they were rowdy. Thanks for
speaking in advance to them about this.
You will not need to bring tables or chairs. These will be
available to us through Faith. Also, snacks and drinks will be
available like last year. If you teach classes, you are welcome
to have flyers there about that.
Sellers please RVSP Sherri Bostick.

Event: Fair Park Educator
Conference
Date: September 9, 2006
Location: Dallas
8:30am - 4:00pm
Free admission, parking and lunch!
The Fair Park Educators' Conference is a unique collaboration of institutions highlighting educational programs and facilities in Fair Park. Come join us for this year's 5th annual event for a fun and full day of thought-provoking exhibits, introductions to educational opportunities, lots of useful classroom materials, and an opportunity to meet fellow educators from across North Texas!
The theme of this year's event is Western Round-up: Texas History, Science and Culture
The Fair Park Educators' Conference is a professional development program for public and private school teachers in North Texas. It began in 2001 as an Open House in four museums and has since expanded to nine museums across the entire park. It features programs in a variety of educational areas, including art, science and social studies.
Advance reservations required. There will be no onsite registration at the event. Registration will open online in June 2006. Once you've registered, we ask that you notify us if you will be unable to attend. We close registration as slots fill up fast.
Make sure to register early!
Any teacher with an identification badge from a public school, private school or homeschool association can attend. Due to the working nature of our curriculum and programs, we ask that you not bring spouses or children with you to the Conference. Spouses and children who would like to visit Fair Park museums will be expected to pay for their museum(s) admission, and will not be able to attend the lunch.
Home schooling parents who are members of a home school association or co-op should show proof of membership.
You will spend the entire day at Fair Park with a relaxing break for lunch, leave with loads of materials and even come up with a few new ideas of your own! The event requires walking between several museums, some of which are a significant distance apart. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

STAN T. REX -
This year we will be featuring the skull of Stan, one of the largest Tyrannosaurus rex fossils found to date. Stan was born over 65 million years ago, but his remains were not discovered by human beings until 1987. His bones were subsequently prepared, stabilized, and then exhibited in 1995. Dr. Robert Bakker, noted paleontologist, states that the original STAN T. rex skull is not only the very best T. rex skull, but also the best dinosaur skull in the world. All but two small bones from inside the lower jaws of the original skull were found. Every bone was individually prepared and molded, then reassembled to make replicas. The bone texture preserved by skilled preparators, along with Stan's interesting and exciting pathologies (healed injuries) makes this a perfect choice for a truly dramatic display at the HGMS annual show.
Tickets for the show are $5 for adults, $3 for students with an ID, and $3 for seniors 55 and older. One ticket is good for all three days of the show. Children 11 and under (accompanied by an adult) are FREE!
School Daze Friday will be a free admission day for school groups,
including homeschools. Groups of 25 or more receive a mineral or fossil
set. All groups MUST pre-register in advance for School DAZE for a
specific time slot.
Activities are geared towards elementary through high school students.
Therefore, please only register children who are in the appropriate age
group (5 yrs to 18 yrs). Please note that the offer of free admission
is only applicable to one adult per homeschool family bringing children.
