FIELD Trips

TAFFIE is run by Susan Frederick (with lots of technical help from her husband Gary) and was started over a decade ago and is the oldest Texas homeschool mailing list. Susan is active in several local area support groups and many email lists and is a seasoned field trip organizer. One of the more memorable field trips was a private showing of Lord of the Rings for 600 homeschoolers. Susan also coordinates the Houston Rockets Homeschool Days. If you have questions or concerns, please contact her.

One of the main purposes of TAFFIE is to promote networking and the sharing of information among Texas homeschooling families. Homeschoolers enjoy setting up and attending field trips. Field trips provide enrichment opportunities and are fun and educational for the whole family. They provide hands-on, memorable experiences that  help bring learning to life. For example if you are studying Texas history, by going out to see the actual places where events took place that is far more likely to leave a lasting impression than simply reading about it in a book.

These are field trips that have been set up by homeschoolers throughout the state. Includes information on how to schedule your own trip for groups and information on how to sign up for openings in existing trips. Look for this section to grow over time, so please be sure to visit it for updates.
