Robofest
- Students design, construct and program their robots while learning problem-solving techniques, mathematics, logic, creativity, physics, electronics, mechanics, teamwork, computers and computer programming. Started at Lawrence Tech in 2000, Robofest has grown rapidly. For 5th-12th graders.

Read to Succeed  or Six Hour Reading Club Program - K-6th grade children who keep log and read 6 hours in Jan/Feb receive free admission coupon for Six Flags Theme Parks. Schools must be within 150 miles of a Six Flags Theme park and must have registered in advance. 1-866-308-1362. This link gives an example of the rules and program. Click here for more information. In Texas, parks include Six Flags Over Texas Arlington, Texas and Fiesta Texas, San Antonio. An exception was made to the 150 mile rule for students in Houston. Houston area students are allowed to participate and can use their coupons at either Arlington or San Antonio parks. One coordinator per support group, reading time starts in early January.

Scripts Howard National Spelling Bee
-  Local competitions vary by location. Homeschoolers have won this National event. SETHSA has sent homeschool representatives to Houston Chronicle Spelling Bee. THEA has offered spelling bees for homeschoolers in the Fort Worth area.
