Programming with Microsoft Robotics Studio

Microsoft Robotics Studio workshops

These are short workshops that introduce you to the world of programming with the Microsoft Robotics Studio (MSRS). It uses the Microsoft Visual Programming Language (VPL) to teach you to write programs in a fun but informative series of example programs. There are several workshops. In the first workshop you will:

   1. Write several programs that output to the PC. One even talks to you.
   2. Run programs in the simulator that is included in the RS.
   3. Run a program on a Lego NXT robot

The second workshop will build on the first. Getting into more of what you can do and teaching more programming using the RS.

Objective: Teach fundamentals of programming in a fun but informative way.

Target Audience: The workshops will be of interest to several peoples...

    * Those interested in learning about the Robotics Studio software
    * Those interested in programming robots
    * Those that want to learn a bit of programming while having fun.

Software: Microsoft http://msdn.microsoft.com/robotics.

We will demonstrate programming a Lego NXT in addition to the simulator, the console and speech. Building or programming an actual hardware robot is not a goal of the class. You will know how to do that after the class but the objective is to teach programming.
